Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Hope Center Youth Mentorship Program?

It is an after-school mentorship initiative designed to support middle-school students through one-on-one mentor relationships, homework assistance, fun activities, and personal development.

Who is the program for?

The program is open to students ages 11–13 who would benefit from academic support, positive relationships, structured after-school time, or simply a safe place to belong.

What makes this program different?

We combine structured mentorship and homework support with a fun, exciting environment where kids can build friendships, explore their interests, and enjoy being part of a community.

What will my child do during the program?

Each session includes:

- A check-in with their mentor

- Homework help or academic support

- Interactive activities, games, or creative projects

- A healthy snack

- Time to build relationships and practice life skills

Who are the mentors?

All mentors are caring, screened, and trained adults from the community who are committed to investing in young people. Mentors complete background checks and receive ongoing support and training.

Is the program safe?

Yes. Student safety is our top priority. We maintain structured spaces, consistent supervision, and a strong student-to-adult ratio. All mentors follow our safety and conduct guidelines.

Is there a cost to participate?

At this time, the program is provided at no cost to families thanks to the generosity of community partners and donors.

What days and times does the program meet?

The program meets two days per week after school. Specific days and times may vary by season; parents will receive full scheduling details at enrollment.

Does my child have to attend every week?

Regular attendance is strongly encouraged so students can build meaningful relationships and benefit from consistent mentorship. We understand occasional absences happen and simply ask for communication when possible.

How do I enroll my child?

Parents can complete a simple online application. Once submitted, our team will reach out with next steps and help match your child with a mentor.

Can parents meet their child’s mentor?
